Field Paintings

This pair of moorhens have so far had 2 broods of young none of which seem to have survived. The third brood of 4 young had now been reduced to 3 but they are doing well. The young are split between the parents with the male looking after 2 young and the female the other.

The male is very tame as he was fed during the cold snap last winter, the old female disappeared in the cold weather so the new female is much more wary and keeps to the middle of the lake when I am sitting sketching.
