Willow Warblers

Field Paintings

During early May I was lucky to observe a female willow warbler building her nest in some low bracken near Yarner Wood. As this is not one of my regular haunts I didn’t follow the nest any more. Luckily a friend found a superb nest on my regular patch on Holne Moor. The nest was on a small bilberry covered bank about two feet from the ground. It was in an excellent place to watch the birds so I sat under my camouflage netting close to the nest and was able to observe, photograph and sketch them at very close range.
